Today's post was gonna be short, but then I went off on a tangent (as I do).
And it all starts with some milkshakes I found!
So Elen Shine made this milkshake accessory to go with their Barbie pose:
And I was looking at it, and I was like "I've seen this before!" ~detective mode activated~
And, of course, I seen it before. It's been in my cc folder for however many years now.
Leosims did those shakes! So if you use those two combined, you can have yourself a cute little photoshoot!
And also, because it's Leosims, I'm sure it's converted from SL or something.
And lo and behold:
Atp, my eyes have been trained to decipher content from SL and content from elsewhere. Most SL creators (especially the popular ones) have a very particular and distinct style. So if you see that style somewhere else (like sims) it's easy to be like "That looks like some SL shit"(and about 90% of the time, it is).
It's definitely one if those "once you see it, you cannot unsee it" situations.
And ultimately, there's not much that can be done about it. If there was, they wouldn't be out here. But the internet is a lawless country, so do whatever tf you want!
No seriously! Think about it!
Leosims. Did that whole stint with the SL community...still out here.
CWB, got called out by her government name and everything...still out here.
Betty Bergdorf, got caught sharing email addresses in a discord server....STILL OUT HERE!
More recently, Nayssccfinds...sharing cc, SL converts, blender rooms, you name it! STILL OUT HERE!
So it seems to me, historically, there are no real consequences to your actions. Like, nobodies goin to jail over this. Y'all sure act like it tho. Y'alls fear of these people who ain't got nothing better better to do with their time but sit at a computer all day and obsess over pixels is crazy! I mean shit, they can barely take legal action in most cases. From what I've observed is that the worst they can do is send a DCMA. And honestly? Okay and? 🤷🏾♀️
OBVIOUSLY that didn't stop Leosims, so why tf should it stop you or anyone else? Leo is a person just like the rest of us. They're not "above" anybody or anything.
Honestly, stuff like this is why my empathy has become nonexistent for these creators. Even creators that I thought were non-problematic, I find shit out about them 🙃. Creators who you've either never heard of or heard anything bad about, will come out of N O W H E R E on some BS! Completely out of pocket for no reason! And sometimes it's unprovoked too! Like, y'all just out here puttin your foot in your mouth!
That's what I found out when I first started digging into the community. And shakes you up because you'd never just assume that somebody is triflin behind closed doors. Even now, I wouldn't just assume a creator is trifflin. IT's only until someone says or does something in the community. Then the real colors start showing.
Most regular Sims players are under the impression that these creators make everything themselves. And then you find out that they didn't, it's like they've been lying to you this whole time. Lying about shit they don't even need to lie about! It's one of those "you have to fuck around and find out" situations.
The foolery is just so rampant. Everyone is "stealing" from everyone. Copying each other half to death. And none of us have the time nor the patience to pick and choose who to be mad at.
EA needs to stop being soft about the rules. It either they can do it, or they can't. This whole "leave it up to the community" thing is just causing all sorts of arguments and fights. Some people want it one way, others want it another.
The way I see it, just download the CC hun. No matter where you got it, no matter if it's free or paid. Converted or not. At the end of the day, it's all the same pixels that don't increase or decrease in monetary value over time. So if I were you, I wouldn't get too emotional about it. This is a topic for another post, but the TL:DR is that y'all spend all this money on Patreon subscriptions for a product that has zero return on investment. If you were buying fancy sneakers, you could always resell them later for more than what you initially paid for them. Can't do that with these pixels.
I'm saying thing to myself as well as the rest of the community: We gotta stop trippin over these pixels. it's just not worth it! As one of the main ones, I get it! It's easy to get mad when you see some BS go down. Its easy to jump in and say your peace. ITs easy to get caught up in the pixel drama. And sometimes that's necessary. But not all the time. Sometimes you just gotta stfu and let those hoes be mad!
From now on, if a creator wants come outta pocket, tell that hoe to #StayMadAboutIt
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk!
