He’s not Dying, He’s just Pregnant

Prologue

After our phone conversation, I teleported to Tony’s living room. He was there, pacing back and forth, rubbing his hands together in an anxious manner. He looked really worried and that made me worry. Whatever ails Tony Stark, usually ails the rest of us!

“Tony? Are you alright?” I said, carefully approaching him. He turned to me with a crazed look in his eye. He really did look a mess. “Whatever it is, I’m sure I know some sort of magic to fix it!” I tried to reassure him.

“No, I don’t think magic can fix this” Tony said nervously.

“Okay, well tell me what’s up and maybe I can help. That’s why you called me right?”

“You might want to have a seat for this one” he said, motioning for me to have a seat on his sofa. I took my seat and he took his right next to me. Tony couldn’t stop fidgeting with his hands. I put my hands over his to hopefully calm him down.

R e l a x” I whispered to him. And just like that, I could feel the tension ease from his hands.

“What makes you think you’re pregnant in the first place?”

Tonys face went a little red thinking about it. It wasn’t something he really wanted to talk about, but he had to. Someone needed to know what’s going on.

“My breasts are sore, I’m impossibly tired all the time, I have this bizarre craving for pickles and sugar cookies, and not to mention the lovely morning sickness! I haven’t stopped vomiting since new years; Steve is starting to worry about me”

“He has a right to be worried. You’ve been throwing up every moring with no real explanation? Yeah, it’s time to be worried.”

“You’re not helping!”

“Right. So what do you want me to do?”

“I want you to get me a pregnancy test.”

“That’s it?”

“Well I’m not getting one myself and I don’t trust anyone else to know this about me”

I sighed and said “Alright Tony. Here.”

I conjure up a test for him to use. It’s nothing special. Just a regular test. Tony takes the box with him to the bathroom. I wait for him in living room.

20 minutes had passed and I still haven’t heard a peep from Tony. I decieded it was time to get up and go check on him.

“Tony?” I say as I knock on the door. “Are you alright in there?”

Silence.

I ask him again. Still nothing. At this point I started to get a little concerned. “Tony?! Make a noise if you’re alive in there!” I shouted at the door. I could hear grumbles coming from the other side. He was alive. Probably emotionally distraught, but alive. I gingerly tried to open the door. It was unlocked, so I slipped in. Tony was sitting on the toilet, clothed, staring at the little piece of plastic telling him his future.

“What’s it say?” I asked, knowing what it probably said.

“Well I’m not crazy” he said finally looking away from the stick and up at me. “According to this, I am indeed pregnant”

“Yeah maybe. I would go see an actual doctor though. And have them look at you. It might not be a baby. It might be a tumor!”

Tony looked at me in disbelief. “Ami, why would you say that?!”

“Because it’s true! These things do happen.”

Things fell silent for moment. Tony was still processing what was going on. I took a seat at the edge of the tub, ready to be moral support.

What am I gonna do? How do I tell Steve?” Tony said breaking into tears. I moved over and hugged him. He welcomed the embrace. Bless him. We stayed like that until I heard Cap come in.

“Your man is home” I said with a smile.

“Oh shit I can’t face him right now!” Tony said in a panic.

“Look Tony, whether you tell him now or later, he’s gonna figure it out eventually. Mind as well rip the band aid off right now!” I said trying to give him a pep talk. I could hear Cap calling for Tony in the other room. “He’s in here!” I shouted loud as I can so Cap could hear me.”Amira! Shut up!” Tony yelled. I could hear Cap approaching the bathroom.

“Bye Tony! Tell me how it goes!” I say before I teleported back to my place. Hopefully Tony will have the courage to tell Cap what’s up. If not, he’ll figure it out eventually.

Stay tuned for part 2!
